JULIANA – THE TRENTA ROCK GARDEN

Let’s Meet in the Gardens project

Saturday, 7 June 2025, at 11:00, 12:00, 13:00

A rock garden is a large mound planted with rock plants. Such is the Juliana Alpine Botanical Garden, where plants thrive in rock crevices and among stone blocks. Places of this kind can be very hot, for water drains quickly from them and soil available for growth is sparse. The mineral composition of the rocks is also very important for plants, considering that some are more common on carbonate and some on silicate soils. During the tour you will learn about the flowering plants in Juliana and how they have adapted to rocky habitats.

Let’s Meet in the Gardens is an event emphasizing the richness and diversity of historic and contemporary parks and gardens all across Europe. The initiative has come from France, where the Rendez-vous aux jardins has been taking place on the first weekend in June for over twenty years. In 2018, the event was extended to other European gardens and parks. This year, the theme is Gardens of stones – stones of gardens.

Entrance fee to the garden according to the price list, guided tours are free.
